Rounding out our focus on the West Adams area, we are happy to provide the Western Heights Preservation Plan for your review. A public hearing for this plan (as well as Adams-Normandie, Harvard Heights and West Adams Terrace) has been scheduled for Thursday, October 14, 2010. There will be an informational open house that begins at 6:00 P.M. and the official public hearing will begin at 7:00 P.M. The hearing will be located at the field office of Councilman Herb Wesson, District 10, at 1819 S. Western Ave., Los Angeles, Ca 90006 (it’s easier to enter from Manhattan Place).
Provided below is a copy of the Notice of Public Hearing that will be sent out in the mail shortly and a copy of the Draft Preservation Plan (a large file!). Both are PDF files, so you’ll need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another similar application to be able to open the files.
Located just north of the Santa Monica Freeway in Historic West Adams, Western Heights HPOZ is an architecturally diverse enclave filled with custom built homes dating from the turn of the 20th century. The residential streets are characterized by two and two-and-one-half story single family residences in architectural styles including Queen Anne, Craftsman, Tudor Revival, and Spanish Colonial Revival, designed by some of the most prominent architects of Los Angeles, such as Myron Hunt and Paul Williams.
