Public Hearing Scheduled for Hollywood and Wilshire Area HPOZs

A public hearing for Carthay Circle, Miracle Mile North, South Carthay, Spaulding Square and Whitley Heights HPOZs will be held at Fairfax High School, 7850 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles CA 90046 on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.  There will be an informational open house from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and the official hearing will begin at 7:00 P.M.  The draft plans for these HPOZs can be found below.  These are large files, so they will take a moment to download. If the download doesn’t work out, let us know (craig.weber@lacity.org) and we’ll send you a hard copy.

Our HPOZs in the Hollywood area include Spaulding Square near West Hollywood, which is a charming several blocks of mostly Colonial Revival cottages. This neighborhood is an authentic snapshot of what sleepy Hollywood neighborhoods looked like in the early 1900s.  Also in Hollywood you will find Whitley Heights which is a rambling hillside village of mostly 1920s Mediterranean Revival homes.  Whitley Heights is the prototype for glamorous Hollywood Hills living.

In the Wilshire area, both Carthay Circle and South Carthay have draft Plans available, as does Miracle Mile North.  All three of these neighborhoods showcase the peak of the Period Revival styles, whimsically mimicking life on the English countryside or the rustic Spanish Colonies (among other places) just as our attention drifted toward the simplicity of Early Modern design.
